The Yangtze River Delta that consists of Shanghai and the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui will implement a 3-year action plan to promote integrated development on the educational front in the region.

The agreement was released at the 12th Yangtze River Delta Educational Integration Development Conference, held in Wujiang District of Suzhou City on November 26.

Efforts will be made to deepen collaboration and sharing of resources among universities to facilitate innovation, give full play to high-level universities as the main driver, support the initiative of comprehensive national science centers in Shanghai’s Zhangjiang and Hefei, capital of Anhui, and explore an operation and management mode featuring openness, sharing, and collaboration.

Educational authorities and universities in the delta have worked together to help realize the mutual recognition of academic studies across the regions and also regulate the management of student records. New technologies such as blockchain will be applied to ensure effective credit accumulation, certification, and transfer inter-provincially.

The action plan calls for sharing of educational resources, such as for moral education, art, science and technology, in primary and secondary schools. Quality vocational education resources will flow across the delta and industries. Teachers can practice in enterprises across provinces and cities, and students can seek internship across the region. The plan also supports vocational schools to play an active role in formulating standards and participate in international certification programs.
