On August 6, the Executive Committee of the Yangtze River Delta Green Development Demonstration Zone worked with educational departments of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai to release a plan to build an integrated platform for vocational education in the region.

A holistic student enrollment and admission procedure will be first piloted in seven secondary vocational schools in Qingpu District in Shanghai, Wujiang District in Jiangsu’s Suzhou City, and Jiashan County in Zhejiang. By the end of the year, the three areas will unify the enrollment of vocational schools and then move to streamline teaching standards and student registration management in secondary vocational schools.

Then in three to five years, the demonstration zone will break down resource barriers and adopt the integrated approach in fields of talent training, education and teaching, scientific research, project incubation and training services.

China has made the regional integration of the Yangtze River Delta a national strategy. In last November, the demonstration area in the Yangtze River Delta on ecologically friendly development was launched.

Amid the integration efforts, educational departments in Qingpu, Wujiang and Jiashan have increased frequent visits and exchanges. The three areas have distinctive industrial development and a strong demand for skilled workers, offering job opportunities for students of vocational schools. Efforts have been made to adjust the talent training, deepen cooperation, and better meet the needs of local industrial development.

Educational departments have now agreed to build an integrated platform to facilitate cooperation. The Executive Committee will host regular meetings, resource sharing, and project cooperation to achieve effective allocation and integration of educational, industrial and enterprise resources.
