Chinese Psychological Society (CPS) has recommended 31 mental health hotlines that it calls “professional and reliable” to help people relieve mental stress over the ongoing novel coronavirus outbreak.
Five of the 31 hotlines are from Jiangsu Province named after individuals and associations in several cities.
Among the recommended, Teacher Tao Hotline (025-96111) is the only one mainly offering free psychological service to students from middle and primary schools and approved by a city-level educational department.
Teacher Tao Hotline, organized by Nanjing Department of Education and operated by Nanjing Xiaozhuang University, consists of psychology teachers from universities and qualified professionals from middle and primary schools.
Currently, it boasts of 7 supervisors registered with CPS, 12 registered psychologists, 26 registered assistant psychologists, and over 200 psychological counselors certified by the state or Nanjing. Teacher Tao Hotline, a hub of leading mental health teachers, also regularly hosts training programs.
