Jiangsu’s transportation network is going all out to help advance the prevention and control work of the COVID-19 and also promote economic and social development.
On February 23, the province cancelled all health checkpoints set up at the entrance and exit of highways, tollgates, service zones, provincial borders and national expressways. Then on February 25, data showed over 1.31 million vehicles left the exit of highways, up 28.91 percent, and this included 298,500 trucks, or 22.8 percent of the total.
By noon on February 25, bus service was resumed in all 13 cities with subordinate districts in Jiangsu and 80 percent of the province’s counties. A total of 1,697 bus routes, 43.3 percent of the total, resumed normal service in Jiangsu. Yancheng City led the progress in Jiangsu with 85.5 percent of its bus service back on track. A total of 939 buses for 105 routes in urban area of Yancheng resumed full service.
At present, a total of 27,549 taxis in Jiangsu, or 46.7 percent of the total, and 35,203 ride-hailing vehicles, 37.1 percent of the total, have gone back to service. Among 25 subway lines in Jiangsu’s 7 cities, 22 lines have resumed passenger service in five cities - Nanjing, Wuxi, Xuzhou, Changzhou and Suzhou.
All 13 cities with subordinate districts in Jiangsu have also opened coach bus service for 527 routes inside the province on February 24 including 189 intercity routes and 116 intercounty routes. Meanwhile, all those cities have organized charted buses to help companies bring back workers and resume operation.
