Jiangsu’s 3rd medical team heads for Wuhan in virus fight

On the afternoon of February 2, the third medical team from Jiangsu Province departed from the Nanjing Lukou International Airport on the way to Wuhan in Hubei Province, hit hard by the novel coronavirus outbreak. 

According to the Jiangsu Health Commission, the 118-strong team includes 18 doctors and 100 nurses from nine hospitals under the province’s direct administration as well as five cities -Lianyungang, Taizhou, Yancheng, Zhenjiang and Suqian. Two officials from the commission also headed the team. 

The 18 doctors are from intensive care unit or specialists of respiratory diseases, and the 100 nurses have all received training in intensive care too. As of February 2, Jiangsu had sent 435 medical workers to Hubei to participate in the prevention and control of the spread of the new infectious disease.
