Jiangsu’s rural tourism destinations received 180 million visitors in the first three quarters this year and earned a total revenue of 51 billion yuan, up 10.9 percent year on year.
The data was released during a promotion of Suqian’s key villages for rural tourism on October 29, part of an ongoing province-wide initiative called “Jiangsu Charm and Nostalgic Countryside.“
Amid the robust, effective and well-organized response to COVID-19 in rural areas, the province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and Department of Culture and Tourism joined hands to launch the initiative in April, focusing on the agricultural development, culture or ecological protection in specific regions to highlight distinctive travel routes and creative activities.
During the tourism promotion campaign, Jiangsu also released an app dedicated to its rural tourism resources, allowing users to easily get rich information. The app has been downloaded for over 300,000 times. More and more hotels and travel agencies have also joined the app to offer incredible service to visitors.
The campaign has also highlighted three Top 100 branding programs – 100 creative farms, 100 rural travel routes and 100 signature dishes, making sure tourists will enjoy the best wherever they go.
