New energy makes up about 40% of Jiangsu’s installed power generation capacity

Jiangsu’s total installed power generation capacity reached more than 200 million kilowatts in 2024, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 14.1%. Renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar, increased to account for 41.6% of the total capacity in the province.

Thermal power, hydropower and nuclear power accounted for 53.66%, 1.5%, and 3.2% of the total power generation capacity, respectively.

This capacity has demonstrated rapid expansion in line with economic development. It took 10 years to grow from 50 million to 100 million kilowatts, 5 years to reach 150 million kilowatts, and 3 years to expand to 200 million kilowatts.
