During the Mid-Autumn and National Day holiday, key commercial circulation enterprises in Jiangsu Province achieved total sales of about 7.15 billion yuan, marking a 7.6% year-on-year increase.
The 8-day holiday from September 29 to October 6 featured more than 500 promotional activities across the province, according to the provincial commercial department.
Prior to the holiday, Jiangsu launched an action plan to stimulate consumer spending. Six enterprises participating in this initiative sold a combined 150,000 units of green and energy-saving home appliances, totaling 680 million yuan in sales. Moreover, sales for Suning.com and 5STAR, the home appliance chain of JD.com, amounted to 300 million yuan and 480 million yuan, up 26.4% and 91.2 %, respectively.
The Nanjing International Auto Expo showcased nearly 1,000 vehicles from more than 80 brands and attracted 180,000 visitors.
The railway network in the Yangtze River Delta accommodated more than 21 million trips during the holiday period.
Meanwhile, 95 key catering enterprises generated sales of more than 200 million yuan, a 15.7% year-on-year increase. In Yangzhou, a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, 80% of private dining rooms were fully booked before the holiday began. In Huai'an, various activities - from food and cultural festivals to the release of a “gourmet map” in partnership with the e-commerce platform Meituan - helped increase the holiday sales to 81 million yuan, up 30% year-on-year.
The province's five major state-owned oil companies sold 295,100 tonnes of refined oil during the holiday, up 6.88% year-on-year.
In addition, Jiangsu's box office during the holiday surpassed 230 million yuan, with more than 5.67 million moviegoers.
