A cargo ship carrying aluminum ladder, carbon black and other products in 62 standard containers for foreign trade departed from the inland port of Jiangsu (Suzhou) International Railway Logistics Center on June 14 and arrived at Taicang Port in the evening. The containers will be transferred to an ocean liner berthed there and then delivered to Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The shipment marks the official opening of Suzhou-Taicang CCA transportation model, which allows exports to be transported from the logistics center’s Zhonggangchi terminal to Taicang Port for overseas delivery.
"Previously, we need to transport the goods to Shanghai’s Yangshan Port or Taicang Port for exporting, but now we only need to transport the goods to the local center and complete the logistics and customs clearance procedures at our doorstep,” said Zhang Qilin, general manager of Suzhou Youjitong International Logistics Co Ltd.
Zhang also said the CCA model is not only highly convenient but also can reduce logistics costs by about 25%.
The logistics center provides the function of customs supervision zone, enabling completion of customs clearance procedures locally, rather than handled usually by larger ports. This will significantly assist import and export enterprises to optimize their operations.
