Photos taken on December 1, 2022 show the starting point of New Eurasian Land Bridge (NELB), an international passageway linking the Pacific and the Atlantic, in Lianyungang City.
On December 1, 1992, a locomotive pulled the first international freight train from Lianyungang, marking the official opening of the NELB. Over the 30 years, the number of freight train trips from Lianyungang to Kazakhstan and Central Asia and European countries via Kazakhstan reached nearly 15,000.
Lianyungang has become the largest transit port in China and one of the top three ports for China’s export of machinery and vehicles, making a positive contribution to the economic, trade and cultural exchanges between Asia and Europe. The 10,900-km-long NELB runs from the coastal city of Lianyungang to Rotterdam of the Netherlands, serving more than 30 countries and regions.
