Nanjing ranked third among 36 cities participating in the SME development environment assessment, according to a report released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on February 21.

The MIIT commissioned a third-party to undertake the assessment and released the report at the second China SME Development Environment Forum held in Shenzhen City.

The assessment consisted of five indicators: market environment, rule of law environment, financing environment, innovation environment, and policy environment.

Nanjing, with an overall score of 71.11, ranked third after Shenzhen and Shanghai.

Nanjing ranked second in terms of the rule of law environment, third in the market environment, and also led in other three indicators.
