The number of international freight train trips in 2022 increased by 9.6% year on year to 1,973 in East China's Jiangsu Province.
This included 1,226 outbound trips, up 6.4% year on year. Jiangsu's freight train trips with destinations in Europe, Central Asia and ASEAN reached 1,037 (down 0.4%), 876 (up 21.5%) and 60 (up 64.3%).
Nanjing, capital of the province, had more than 300 such trips, while Xuzhou, Suzhou and Lianyungang saw more than 400, 500 and 700 freight train trips. There were 3 freight train trips on average per month between Hai'an and Vietnam.
Among the development highlights in 2022 are freight trains chartered for cross-border e-commerce or for key enterprises, a robust effort to build overseas logistics hubs, such as the opening of a warehouse in the Netherlands, and the pilot program of digital yuan transaction for the freight train services. Jiangsu has also guaranteed the transportation of key goods and anti-epidemic supplies to countries through the freight trains.
