Nanjing's Xinjizhou wetland park home to 10,000 squawk ducks

Some 10,132 squawk ducks have arrived in Xinjizhou National Wetland Park in Nanjing for the wintering period, according to the park's biodiversity survey team.

The dabbling duck is under Grade II animal protection in China and features marks like the Peking Opera mask.

According to the team, there are currently 16,757 migratory birds in 75 species spending the winter at the park, such as northern goshawk, bluethroat, Eurasian spoonbill and tundra swan.
