The terminal of Shenghong Refining & Chemical (Lianyungang) in Xuwei New Area welcomed the arrival of the first 300,000-tonne VLCC (Very Large Crude oil Carrier) on October 9, marking the full opening of the channel for raw materials transport at the project.
The crude carrier Yuanjinhu, 330 meters long and 60 meters wide, is the first VLCC with a capacity of 300,000 tonnes deadweight to berth in Jiangsu and the largest to reach the deep-water channel in Xuxu port area since its opening in September.
The port area of the integrated refining and petrochemical complex, built by Shenghong, is 1,670 meters long and includes a 300,000-tonne tanker berth and four 50,000-tonne liquid bulk cargo berths. The port is one of the most important supporting facilities for the complex, which is the largest in China and has an annual processing capacity of 16 million tonnes of crude oil.
