Nanjing plans to host over 500 cultural and tourism events to celebrate the Spring Festiva, Chinese Lunar New Year.
The city’s scenic spots, cultural venues, and ancient villages and towns will launch these activities around five themes - intangible cultural heritage (ICH), museums, park tours, performances, and beautiful countryside.
Among these, Nanjing will organize 140 events related to 27 types of intangible cultural heritage and folk festivals, such as the 39th Qinhuai Lantern Festival, the ICH fair at Tianshuiqiao scenic area, and the 5th Luoshan Dragon Culture Festival.
Special bell-ringing ceremonies and performances will be among programs held at diverse tourist attractions, such as Qixia Mountain, the Great Bao'en Temple, Niushou Mountain, and Qingliang Temple. A flowers festival will be held at Xuanwu Lake Park, and Tangshan Culture and Tourism Group will offer a series of activities to celebrate the Year of the Snake.
Furthermore, Nanjing's museums will present 73 exhibitions and activities. For example, there will be the "Dream of the Red Chamber Calligraphy and Painting Art Exhibition" at the Nanjing Museum Administration, an exhibition about Nanjing in the Ming Dynasty at the Nanjing City Wall Museum, and the "Jinling Digital Art Exhibition" at the Deji Art Museum.
