Jiangsu holds meeting to optimize business environment

Wu Zhenglong, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, presided over the province’s meeting on the work to optimize the business environment on September 19.

Wu said it’s important to fully and accurately implement the new development concept, adhere to the goal-orientated approach in solving the problems and achieving the results, and foster a market-oriented and world-class business environment underpinned by a sound legal framework. Jiangsu will continuously optimize the business environment to bring to life the can-do spirit of state-owned enterprises, facilitate new breakthroughs of private companies, and attract more investment from foreign firms.

Noting that in recent years Jiangsu has accomplished achievements in enhancing its business environment, Wu called for regions and departments around the province to learn from each other, leverage the strengths, and support each other for coordinated progress.

He stressed that improving business environment is not a one-off task but a constant endeavor. He urged the better coordination between government and market and take an integrated approach on five fronts - policy, market, governmental service, rule of law, and culture.

Efforts are needed to make all kinds of market players in Jiangsu to enjoy the lowest operating costs, highest efficiency, most convenient trade and investment procedures, and most stable development expectations, according to Wu. Jiangsu should strive to become the world's most attractive and competitive investment destination, with creative progress made in the evaluation of business environment enhancement.

Wu also called for all departments at all levels to assume responsibility, try to prevent the imported COVID-19 cases and locally transmitted cases through refined measures, and ensure workplace safety and social stability.

In the meeting, Jiangsu governor Xu Kunlin said priority will be given to relieve difficulties faced by the businesses and respond to key concerns regarding market access, operating costs, financing, and market order.

Xu said Jiangsu will fully stimulate the vitality of market players, proceed in accordance with the rule of law, and coordinate efforts associated with industrial support, infrastructure, human resources and public services. The province will strive to become a hub attractive to for international commodities and global resources.
