Jiangsu’s foreign trade in the first half of this year reached 2.64 trillion yuan, an increase of 10% year-on-year, according to data released by Nanjing Customs on July 18.

Exports rose 12.3% to 1.66 trillion yuan, while imports reached 973.71 billion yuan, up 6.2%.
Among the companies, Jiangsu Meilun Food Co Ltd has successfully expanded its exporting of ice-cream, popsicles and other types of products thanks to strong support of Yangzhou Customs. The customs made a comprehensive review of standards for frozen drinks in Thailand and Singapore and also guided the company to adjust its ingredients and production to comply with exporting standards. The company was able to export its seven types of ice-cream and popsicles for the first time.
Trane China also has won new orders after getting the AEO (Authorized Economic Operator) customs recognition. The company’s manager Ding Qun said the recognition means customs will provide regular update on its credit status, help improve the supply chain management, and speed up the supplier assessment by trade partners.
In the six months, the coastal province exported 1.09 trillion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, up 10.9%, accounting for 65.4% of the total export volume. In breakdown, the exports of integrated circuits, solar cells, mobile phones and lithium-ion batteries hit 131.42 billion yuan, 51.02 billion yuan, 48.61 billion yuan and 29.52 billion yuan, up 23.5%, 80.8%, 117.8% and 62.4% respectively.
In the period, the number of international freight train trips reached 1,015, up 45% from the same period last year, and the trains carried 78,200 containers, a growth of 56%.
Jiangsu has opened new freight train routes this year to link Suzhou and Milan, Tilburg and Nanjing, and Minsk and Xuzhou.
Chen Jun, a manager at the China-Kazakhstan logistics base in Lianyungang, said that the venue operates six regular freight train routes and the number of trips in the first half of the year also increased by 30%. Chen said exports including household appliances and machinery equipment were mostly favored by countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.
