A distributed solar PV system in Xicheng water plant in Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province was connected to the grid on July 5.
The solar farm covers an area of 44,000 square meters and has an installed capacity of 4.6MWp, the largest of its kind operating in a water plant.
A project manager said the electricity generation system has used leading solar panels to improve the reliable performance. The solar farm’s management system has also benefited from digital technologies, such as a digital twin of the facility.
Xicheng water plant’s annual power use is estimated to be around 30 million kWh. The solar power project is able to generate 5.11 million kWh per year, equivalent to saving 1,584 tons of coal and cutting carbon dioxide emissions of more than 4,000 tonnes.
