Jiangsu has used the China-Laos freight train service and then truck transport to deliver raw materials to the factory of Jiangsu Overseas Group in Yangon, Myanmar on April 25.
The 12-day journey covered a distance of 4,500 kilometers spanning China, Laos, Thailand and Myanmar.
Compared with the ocean transport or road transport, the rail-road intermodal provides faster services that are also more stable and economical.
This trade route will help the province’s foreign trade enterprises to make the best use of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), the world's largest trade deal, to tap into the ASEAN market. It also helps freight train service departing from Jiangsu to link with more destinations.
