By November 3, the freight trains linking the coastal city of Lianyungang with Huai’an, where Huaigang Special Steel is based, had transported over one million tons of iron ore in 15,636 cars.
Making use of the Xinyi–Changxing Railway and the dedicated New Port cargo rail track, the iron ore trains are operated by Huai’an New Port Railway Co., Ltd amid efforts to help local companies. The train service started in September last year and runs once every two days.
With the support of all parties, the company has taken the initiative to contact local companies and meet their business requirements. It opened a cargo train service to Ningbo Port on August 28 this year, which had transported 1,878 TEUs with 939 cars.
The freight trains not only meet the daily transportation needs of Huaigang Special Steel and other large enterprises but also provide more transportation services for various enterprises. This will certain promote the economic development in northern Jiangsu.
