The National Center for Advanced Packaging Co. Ltd. (NCAP China), based in Wuxi City, has gotten the go-ahead from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology to develop into a national IC packaging and testing innovation center, according to the Jiangsu Department of Industry and Information Technology on May 7.

The approval also means Jiangsu now boasts the second innovation center for manufacturing, after the first such center dedicated to advanced fiber materials innovation. China now has 16 manufacturing innovation centers at the national level.

NCAP China, with a 10,000 sqm R&D building, has formed close cooperation with more than 70 organizations from upstream to downstream in the sector. The company, staffed with about 300 researchers, has applied for 876 patents and achieved 80 technology transfers.
