Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Committee, visited Changzhou City on February 28 to understand prevention and control work of the COVID-19 epidemic as well as progress in resuming work and production. 

Lou said efforts to control and prevent the epidemic are making steady progress but it should still be a priority amid the coordination in advancing economic and social development. 

Lou also visited the construction site of Changzhou-Yixing Expressway in Changzhou, talked with the project manager, and urged efforts to guarantee work safety, epidemic control as well as quality and speed in construction.  

The expressway will play a significant role in boosting development along the line, facilitating the forming of the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou metropolitan area, and supporting the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta.  

The project manager said all management personnel and builders in key construction tasks are back to work now.  

Lou also went to Dongnan Village in Xixiashu Town, Xinbei District, a place known for the high-quality rice. In the village’s service hall, Lou asked about epidemic control work and also checked the registration form for visitors to the village. He also visited a field and learned about the spring farming.  

Lou said agricultural production has now reached a critical period and efforts are needed to both control the epidemic and organize the timely spring farming in order to secure a bumper summer grain harvest and keep sown areas and grain output  stable.
