The 2025 Jiangsu Football City League has announced changes to the kick-off times for three upcoming matches scheduled to take place in Yangzhou.
The provincial league, made up of 13 city teams, has become one of the most electrifying sporting events in China this summer. The organizing committee said the three matches of Yangzhou will kick off at 19:30, 30 minutes later than the original time.
The adjustment is to reduce the impact of high temperatures on both players and spectators. According to Yangzhou Meteorological Bureau, a drop of 0.5 degree Celsius in ambient temperature - assuming stable wind speed and humidity - can result in a perceived temperature reduction of about one. This can make a notable difference for players on the field and fans in the stands. The effect will be even more pronounced when combined with artificial cooling methods.
Such measures were implemented during the match between Yangzhou and Wuxi on July 5, where over 10,000 kilograms of ice and eight mist cannon trucks were used to cool the stadium. The result was a noticeable drop in on-site temperatures, enhancing comfort for all participants.
