The “two sessions” this year have featured Yancheng more prominently, especially in endorsing the city as a pilot area for green and low-carbon development, as stated in the government work report. Zhou Bin, head of Yancheng delegation at the “two sessions” of Jiangsu Province, pledges to actively serve the province’s development.

Considering the city’s significance in renewable energy, agriculture and ecology, Yancheng will swiftly and fully implement the provincial government's latest arrangements and requirements as well as the spirit of the “two sessions.” Yancheng aim to further develop these three fields, and balance economic growth with the enhancement of people's livelihoods, serving national needs and contributing more to the provincial and national development.

Firstly, to construct a new energy industry cluster. Yancheng is committed to the integrated development of wind, solar, clean coal power generation, LNG, and hydrogen energy, and a holistic approach of renewable energy generation, storage and use. It aims to achieve breakthroughs in LNG cold energy and hydrogen energy utilization while establishing an energy system that is clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient. Yancheng plans to accelerate pilot projects for net-zero or low-carbon industrial parks, and strengthen industry chain in wind, solar and hydrogen energy, aiming to become a role model for renewable energy storage and use in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Secondly, to build a modernized agriculture. The city’s goal is to maintain its farmland area at 14.8 million mu and total output at over 7 billion kilograms. It aims to revitalize resources, improve farmers’ living conditions, enhance rural environment, and eliminate outmoded customs and promote social civility in rural areas, transforming the countryside to be beautiful and harmonious.

Thirdly, to become an international eco-friendly destination. Yancheng will enhance the protection and restoration of important ecosystems, and improve ecological and environmental governance. It will actively support the development of eco-tourism, healthcare, high-end accommodations, the silver economy, and other new forms of industries. Yancheng will also facilitate the deep integration of culture, tourism, sports, recreation and healthcare, fully realizing the ecological values.
