Jiangsu’s lawmakers contribute suggestions for better development

Deputies at the second session of the 14th Jiangsu Provincial People’s Congress, the regional legislature, have offered various suggestions for high-quality development.

Wei Guo, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Dafeng District, Yancheng City, observed that the income gap between urban and rural residents is narrowing but challenges still remain in rural development dynamics and industrial competitiveness. He advocated for more support in developing regional agricultural brands, fostering leading enterprises and strengthening agricultural industry clusters.

Zhang Xin, a delivery worker with Nantong SF Express, highlighted the challenges of last-mile deliver service in rural areas. Zhang’s research identified inadequate and imbalanced express delivery service at the township level, a problem he believes could be solved with policy support.

Jiang Xinglin, office director at the Experimental Middle School of Dafeng District, emphasized local people’s desire for quality education. She hopes for more efforts to ensure much more balanced development in education.

Wu Shuhan, director of Tianyuan Agricultural Machinery Cooperative in Dongtai City, stressed the importance of improving policies related to the application of scientific and technological achievements.

As a practitioner of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for more than 30 years, Zhu Jie raised concerns about constraints on data flow between hospitals. He suggested creating a province-wide hospital information platform under unified management to upgrade the quality and efficiency of hospital services.

Feng Xingzhen, chairman of Xuzhou Mining Group, called for more efforts for the development of new materials, high-end mining equipment manufacturing and modern financial services. He also suggested accelerating the growth of new energy, S&T innovation, and digital and intelligent transformation of enterprises.
