CPPCC Jiangsu Committee wraps up annual session

The fifth session of the 12th CPPCC Jiangsu Committee concluded on the afternoon of January 22.

The 4-day meeting elected Zhang Yizhen as chairperson of the 12th CPPCC Jiangsu Committee and Yang Yue as vice chairperson. It also elected Wang Changqing, Wang Yongan, Shi Lijun, Zhu Qinhu, Li Kanzhen, Wu Wanshan, Chen Xiangyang, Zhou Jiannong, Xia Chunsheng, Tang Yifeng, Xiong Sidong and Dai Yueqiang as members of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC Jiangsu Committee, and adopted a resolution of the fifth session.

During the meeting, members of the CPPCC Jiangsu Committee heard and discussed a speech by Wu Zhenglong, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, and deliberated the work report of the standing committee and a report on proposals made since last session. They also attended the fifth session of the 13th Jiangsu Provincial People's Congress, discussed the government work report made by acting governor Xu Kunlin and other reports, and put forward their suggestions.

Noting that CPC will convene its 20th national congress in 2022, Zhang said it’s important to be committed to Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the overall guideline in all works, fully implement the decision and plans of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi at the core, and make the study and implementation of the spirit of the 20th national congress as the central work in the year.

Zhang also called for efforts to focus on the objectives and tasks identified in the 14th Jiangsu Provincial Party Congress and actively contribute to the new mission and progress in Jiangsu.
