Jiangsu has rolled out a series of proactive fiscal and policy measures to ensure the stable supply of materials used in the fight against COVID-19 and daily necessities to people affected.
The supply of important goods and materials related to people's livelihood is generally adequate and prices are basically stable in the province, while pandemic-hit Yangzhou City saw the declining prices of meat, eggs and vegetables.
The province allocated a fiscal spending of 80 million yuan to stabilize market prices, such as subsidizing the release of pork from provincial reserves. As Yangzhou was hit hard by the COVID-19 outbreak, the province provided 5 million yuan to support efforts of keeping prices of daily necessities stable.
At the beginning of the year, Jiangsu earmarked 30 million yuan of its government revenue specially for the purchase of reserve materials at the provincial level, mainly for emergency and general disaster response. Under this program, relief materials worth 1.56 million yuan were provided to help Yangzhou combat the pandemic.
To strengthen control of pork prices during the COVID-19 outbreak, the provincial government increased pork supply through subsidies, and met the needs of residential compounds placed under quarantine in Yangzhou.
Jiangsu will continue to use the fiscal spending and support policy to ensure progress of COVID-19 fight and help businesses reopen early and in a timely manner.
