Jiangsu has strengthened measures at ports and waterways in fighting the recent COVID-19 resurgence.
Since late July, the province has received port calls of 1,690 foreign vessels, completed 27,000 checks onboard ships by law enforcement officers, handled over 402,000 vehicles and 443,000 people through the ports.
The province has established 230 check points to curb the spread of the pandemic through waterways and also mobilized 3,629 law enforcement officers as well as 10,154 people from port-related enterprises to contribute to efforts on frontlines.
In terms of the inland river ports and ships management, the province’s transport authorities urged operators to play an active role in the pandemic prevention and control, with sightseeing boats and ferries in medium and high-risk areas suspended.
Fifty inspection points were established for the province's main waterways, and all staff members on boats from medium- and high-risk areas needed to undertake the COVID-19 checks.
