East China’s Jiangsu Province has set the fees for after-school tutoring service to be 300 yuan per semester per student, according to the province’s Department of Education.
Four departments in Jiangsu have jointly introduced a regulation over the off-campus tutoring to ease the burden on students in primary and secondary schools.
According to the regulation, teachers providing after-school tutoring should be paid at least 60 yuan per hour. The province is also moving fast to ensure the funding for this expense.
The guideline stipulated that local governments shall introduce their own programs to ensure at least 2 hours of after-school tutoring services is available to students every weekday. Such programs and staffing need to be ready by schools in line with the specific condition before the new school semester starts.
Chinese authorities have in recent months rolled out a series of strict regulations to deal with after-school training, such as reducing homework and improving quality of education and after-class services provided by schools.
