Wang Zhiguo, deputy director of immunization planning at Jiangsu Center for Disease Control and Prevention, gave an update on the province’s COVID-19 vaccination for minors aged between 12 and 17.

Wang said the two inactivated vaccines used for minors are developed by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products, affiliated with Sinopharm, and pharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech.

People should take protective measures against COVID-19 on the way to the vaccination site. Upon arrival, the guardian should share information of the child’s health, take temperature and queue up in an orderly manner, according to Wang.

Before vaccination, the guardian will be provided with all relevant information to ensure his or her child is informed, consenting and voluntarily vaccinated, said Wang. The guardian should remain with the minor during vaccination. After receiving a dose of COVID-19 vaccine, the minors should stay for 30 minutes of observation before leaving.
