The Jiangsu Digital Agriculture and Rural Development Conference 2021 was held on June 29 at the Nanjing National Agricultural Innovation Center, which is a research base and home to many leading institutes and enterprises.
The event aimed to gather the ideas and resources of all parties and stimulate the comprehensive revitalization of rural areas in the province.
In recent years, the Jiangsu provincial government has issued guidelines to promote the application of Internet in building modern agriculture, e-commerce in rural areas, “one village, one product and one store” program, and the digital transformation.
Fiscal authorities at all levels have invested more than 1.1 billion yuan annually to empower rural development with digital technologies, which also promote an inflow of private investment totaling over 2 billion yuan.
Such efforts enabled Jiangsu to win the recognition of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs in many initiatives, such as promoting information technology, Big Data, and Internet of Things in rural areas.
The province's online sales of agricultural products have kept a growth of 25% for many years in a row. Jiangsu has also trained over 60,000 people to be familiar with e-commerce skills. The province is also home to 248 towns and 664 villages recognized by Alibaba for their outstanding sales at Taobao.com, ranking second and third in the country respectively. Jiangsu now has over 80 agricultural e-commerce industrial parks at the county-level, among which 22 have online sales exceeding the threshold of 100 million yuan.
