Jiangsu has planned to improve the quality of its 12,000 agritourism farms and rural scenic spots this year amid efforts to attract 300 million tourists and get a revenue of over 90 billion yuan.

The plan was heard during an awarding ceremony to recognize the province’s top performers in developing recreational rural and agricultural tourism. The event also went along with the 2nd Blackberry Cultural Festival in Maji Town, Yizheng City, known for a booming industry centered on the edible fruit.

Tang Mingzhen, chief agronomist of the province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, said the province has decided to adopt an integrated approach to support the development of primary, secondary and service sectors.

From June 26 to July 4, the province is also showcasing the innovative programs in the campaign to develop recreational rural and agricultural tourism.
