New shipping model to boost foreign trade at Suzhou Industrial Park

COSCO Shipping launched the CCA model for foreign trade from Suzhou Industrial Park Port on June 28 as a barge carrying 20 containers departed on its way to Shanghai’s Waigaoqiao port complex.

The barge arrived at the port after 15 hours and then the 40ft containers will be shipped by the vessel COSCO TAICANG 077E to Los Angeles in 15 days.

The new CCA model will make full use of COSCO Shipping’s global services and help companies to export cargos in more efficient ways. Local exporters can complete customs declaration directly at Suzhou Industrial Park Port and start the shipping process, which can save 200-300 yuan in logistics cost for one container in comparison with land transport. The model also cut the warehousing cost and increase the re-use of empty containers.
