Nanjing builds 7 kitchen waste transfer stations

With a daily capacity of 60 tons, the kitchen waste transfer station at Donghuagang was put into use on February 23, bringing the total number of such facilities in downtown Nanjing to seven.

The new station also means all kitchen waste produced in Qixia District can be transported for treatment.

At present, most of the trucks to collect food waste in Nanjing have a carrying capacity of 3 to 5 tons. It’s a huge cost to collect and transport the waste to the Jiangbei household waste disposal center. Fortunately, the growing number of transfer stations will help reduce cost and increase efficiency.
