Nanjing’s kindergartens, primary and secondary schools opened their doors on February 22 to welcome about 1.02 million students in the new semester.
The city will increase construction of schools this year and plans to build new and renovate a total of at least 30 kindergartens that meet the excellence standard of Jiangsu Province, which allows Nanjing to add the admission of 10,000 children. Nanjing also plans to build 12 schools for compulsory education to increase the admission of 18,000 students.
The number of public kindergartens will be expanded so as to offer services to no less than 85 percent of children. The city will step up efforts to help kindergartens reach the provincial and city quality standards.
