Nanjing plans to renovate 108 old urban residential areas this year amid ongoing efforts to enhance people’s well-being and sense of happiness.
There are 1,161 buildings with a total construction area of 3.56 million square meters and 48,000 families involved in the renovation, according to the Nanjing Bureau of Housing Security and Management.
During the 13th Five-Year Plan period, Nanjing renovated 1,282 old neighborhoods that included 11,266 buildings, which exceeded the city’s objective and benefited 390,000 families.
As this year marks the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the city will further improve renovation work, such as better preserving the history and culture of old areas. New methods will be also be explored actively to further improve the living conditions.
