Linking Fengcheng in Taizhou City and Meili in Wuxi City, it will be sixth river-passing transmission line and also a key project to support the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region. The project has a total investment of 1.58 billion yuan and won approval of the National Development and Reform Commission in March.
The project includes building new and renovating power lines totaling 178,100 meters long, among which a section of 2,550 meters is above the Yangtze River. It is the largest and most challenging river-passing power line project in China. In addition to a 385-meter transmission tower, which will be the highest in the world, the project’s construction will set seven world records.
Wang Weiyuan, an officer of the Jiangsu branch of the State Grid, said the project will increase power supply network across the delta region, facilitate electricity sharing, and improve the use of clean energy.
