Top museum ranking includes 14 Jiangsu museums in Q3

Two museums from Jiangsu Province made it into China’s top 10 popular museums in the third quarter of the year, according to the latest report of China Museum Trending Searches.

The ranking is the only long-term, sustained study of museum news and events in China, published by Museum News, a social media account, under the guidance of Art Exhibitions China.

In total, Jiangsu has 14 museums in the top 100 list, with Nanjing Museum ranked 5th and Suzhou Museum taking the 7th place.

The list also includes Yangzhou China Grand Canal Museum (11th), Nanjing Museum Administration (38th), Changzhou Museum (41st), and Nantong Museum (41st). Also on the list are Wuxi Museum (56th), Wu Culture Museum (56th), Yancheng Museum (79th), Xuzhou Museum (86th), Jiangyin Museum (86th), Zhenjiang Museum (86th), Suzhou Bay Museum (94th), and Yangzhou Museum (98th).

The China Museum Trending Searches report also included rankings in subcategories. Nanjing Sign Language Museum, which opened on October 8 as China's first sign language museum, was included in the top 10 newly opened museums and art galleries in the third quarter.

The top 30 themed museums featured Yangzhou China Grand Canal Museum and Nanjing Imperial Examination Museum of China. Nanjing Geological Museum was listed among the top 30 natural science museums, while Nanjing Grand Bao'en Temple Heritage Museum and Wuxi Hongshan Ruins Museum were named among top 30 archaeological museums.

Additionally, in terms of craft and intangible cultural heritage, the top 30 museums included Suzhou Opera Museum, Suzhou Imperial Kiln Brick Museum, Kunshan Opera Museum, Qinhuai Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum, Yangzhou China Block Printing Museum, Nanjing Yunjin Brocade Museum, and the Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall of Nanjing Museum.
