Jiangsu leads foreign trade in Yangtze River Economic Belt

In the first three quarters of this year, the total foreign trade of the nine provinces and two municipalities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt reached a record high of 14.61 trillion yuan, accounting for 45.2% of the national total for the same period, according to Nanjing Customs.

In the Yangtze River Economic Belt, Jiangsu Province's foreign trade increased by 7.7% year-on-year to 4.12 trillion yuan, making up 28.2% of the region’s total and ranking first.

Data also showed that private enterprises played a leading role in sectors such as consumer electronics, while foreign-invested enterprises excelled in computer and communications industries. Additionally, exports to markets such as BRICS countries and ASEAN saw significant growth during the period.

In the first three quarters, the region recorded 6.62 trillion yuan in trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative, marking a 4.9% increase and accounting for 43.5% of the national total with these countries. Additionally, the region’s trade with other RCEP member countries grew by 1.9% to 4.48 trillion yuan, representing 46.5% of the national total.

Imports and exports of high-tech products from the Yangtze River Economic Belt hit 4.1 trillion yuan, a 7.7% increase, accounting for 48.6% of the national total in this category.
