Haizhou District in Lianyungang City unveiled giant Spring Festival couplets to decorate its old city gate on January 18 to celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year.
The pair of 5-meter-long, 1.2-meter-wide red couplets was written by Wang Ji'an, professor at Nanjing Normal University and member of the council of Chinese Calligraphers Association. The two-sentence line was a creation of Zhang Wei, member of the Chinese Couplet Association.
For the sixth year, Haizhou has adorned its iconic city gate with couplets for the Spring Festival celebration.
