Jiangsu’s box office revenue during the 3-day New Year holiday ending on January 3 hit a record high of nearly 108 million yuan, the second highest in the country and about 11% of the national total.
More than 2.71 million moviegoers contributed to the ticket sales in the coastal province.
Among the 13 large cities, Suzhou and Nanjing reported the biggest box office revenue, both over 20 million yuan, and followed by Wuxi.
The revenue data also showed a geographical disparity with cities in southern Jiangsu take the provincial lead, such as over 8 million yuan in both Changzhou and Nantong cities.
