Nanjing launched an information management system for delivery workers on April 27 to improve food safety in the fight against COVID-19, the first of its kind in Jiangsu Province.

The city’s Market Supervision Bureau completed a review of 23,400 delivery men and women at 612 distribution hubs, who mainly work for 11 online-to-offline (O2O) commerce platforms and food and beverage brands including Meituan, Ele.me, KFC, JD Daojia and Starbucks.

The system has collected information of all these couriers including their COVID-19 vaccination and testing record. The bureau has also urged the platform operators to ensure the effective epidemic prevention and control measures, such as the disinfection of transport vehicles.
