Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, visited teachers in Xuzhou City one day ahead of China's Teachers' Day that falls on September 10.
On behalf of the committee and the provincial government, Lou extended greetings and best wishes to teachers and also surveyed efforts on deepening education reform.
At the Longcheng Primary School in Peixian County, Lou said primary education is an important stage for children to build a foundation and teaching at this stage should follow the laws of education and children's growth, with a priority given to the students’ good learning habits and foster their all-round moral, intellectual, physical and aesthetic grounding.
During his visit to Peixian County Senior High School, Lou said that, in imparting knowledge, teachers should provide good guidance to students and encourage them to be aspiring, stay committed to the county, and confident of Chinese culture.
Later at the symposium, Lou said education plays a fundamental and overarching role in the society so the development of education should be a strategic priority with constant input. Jiangsu needs to promote the modernization of education and better meet the needs of the time and people’s expectations.
Lou said efforts are needed to ensure a quality compulsory education, promote high-quality, well-balanced development of high school education, improve vocational education, and support pre-school education.
He also said it’s important to provide training through multiple channels, constantly improve the working and living conditions of teachers and optimize the incentive mechanism.
