Jiangsu Province has five new winners on the latest list of state-level university science parks, released by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Education.
The province now has 20 such S&T parks winning the national recognition, taking the lead in the county.
In recent years, Nanjing University has supported the networking of innovation resources, facilitated the opening of joint labs in partnership with service platforms and leading enterprises, and promoted the commercialization of the S&T outcomes, said Ji Qing, chairman of Nanjing University Science and Technology Park Development Co., Ltd.
The science park of the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology is an incubator of the university’s atmospheric programs, which relies on leading information processing and computing technologies to provide meteorological services. The university has made full use of its competitive computing and data resources to help companies based in the park, such as significantly lowering the cost of using supercomputers and facilitating their access to commercial data, said Xia Jingming, deputy general manager of the university’s asset management arm.
Also recognized on the list is the science park by Yangzhou University, which hosts programs of 20 high-level talents, offers a seed fund of 16 million yuan, and co-works with over 50 business mentors. Wang Guilin, general manager of the park, said the park has entered into cooperation with 33 engineering centers and labs at or above the provincial level, and introduced incentives to support students and teachers to engage in the technology transfer and commercialization.
Xu Qi, director of the science park of Yancheng Institute of Technology, said the school hosts one collaborative innovation center, nine key labs and nine engineering technology centers all at provincial or ministerial level, eight industrial technology institutes, and 63 research establishments. These platforms provide technological innovation services for enterprises based in the park, allowing them to have easy access to the school’s library resources.
