16 Jiangsu items recognized on list of intangible cultural heritage

Jiangsu had 16 winners on the latest list of national intangible cultural heritage released by the State Council on June 10.

The State Council recognized 185 new cultural practices and expressions on the official list and another 140 items on the list’s extension.

Jiangsu had 8 winners on the official list, including the Nanzha-style folk song in Huai'an City, Taixing-style flower-drum playing, and crystal carving in Donghai County of Lianyungang City. The items named on the extension list include Changzhou’s needlework, making of Yanghe liquor in Suqian City and Shengtang temple fair in Suzhou City.

Two of the 16 honored are based in Nanjing, namely the Yuhua tea-making and the cooking techniques of vegetarian diet by Lvliuju (Green Willow House) Restaurant.
