Organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Province and the China-Britain Business Council, the UK Business Dialogue with Jiangsu Provincial Government opened in Nanjing on June 10.
Representatives of 23 British companies including Smiths Group and HSBC joined the event and exchanged ideas with officials from the province in order to promote economic and trade cooperation.
The questions raised by the representatives covered investment policy, environmental standards, land supply, digital economy, innovation incubators and other topics. Officials at the meeting were from the province’s ten government departments, such as the Development and Reform Commission and departments of commerce, science and technology, culture and tourism.
Duncan Clark, vice-chairman of the China-Britain Business Council, said Jiangsu has always been an ideal investment destination to the council’s member companies and the provincial government has helped enterprises overcome difficulties after the COVID-19 outbreak.
He said the council’s member companies are confident of the development of tech innovation, financial services, green energy and other fields in Jiangsu province.
