Both academicians of Chinese Academy of Science, Xuan Yimin(R) from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Zhu Shining(L) from Nanjing University received certificates from Lou Qinjian, secretary of the CPC Jiangsu Committee.
The CPC Jiangsu Committee and Jiangsu government organized the science and technology award conference on the afternoon of June 10 in honor of those winning organizations and individuals.
Both academicians of Chinese Academy of Science, Xuan Yimin from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics and Zhu Shining from Nanjing University won the provincial award for “significant contributions to basic research.”
This is the first time to add the new award since the establishment of the Jiangsu Science and Technology Achievement Award in 1978.
Xuan, a famous expert of engineering thermophysics in China, has made systematic and original achievement in the field of energy transfer, utilization and control, developing further the theory and application of engineering thermophysics. His research has provided strong support to the research and development of major equipment, and enhanced China’s academic status of this field in the world. As the first to discover the energy transfer law of nanofluid, he also proposed the application for electronic equipment cooling and spacecraft thermal control, helping the country take the world lead.
Zhu, dedicated to the research of microstructure functional materials for a long time, has advanced the development of optical superlattice and metamaterial, which have been applied for the R&D of other fields. He also designed and implemented the drone-based all-weather quantum entanglement distribution so as accelerate the quantum communication development.
