The Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Committee held an enlarged meeting on November 15 to study important instructions that President Xi Jinping gave during his inspection of Jiangsu and a symposium on comprehensively advancing the development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt.
The meeting noted Xi’s speeches are forward-looking, insightful and well-targeted, significant to the overall work and key issues in Jiangsu. It’s important to deeply understand the recognition of progress and requirements over Jiangsu’s ecological conservation efforts, implement the new development idea, blaze a trail in coordinating economic development with ecological protection, and pursue the modernization characterized by harmonious coexistence between man and nature. It’s also important to understand well the practical significance of Xi’s remarks about Zhang Jian, a Chinese industrialist and educator in the late 19th century and early 20th century, offer steadfast support to private businesses, and contribute to the country by developing industries and focusing on innovation. Jiangsu will deeply understand the requirements over the integrated development in the Yangtze River Delta, get ready to shoulder responsibilities, give full play to the development advantages, and play a more active role in accomplishing strategic missions. The province will have a deeper understanding of President Xi’s expectation of building the Grand Canal Cultural Belt and promote the conservation and development of cultural legacies. Efforts will be made to deepen understanding of President Xi’s important instructions to promote the construction of the eastern route of the South-North Water Transfer Project, play the key role of Jiangsu in the national development, and promote balanced and sustainable development in the north and south. Jiangsu will regard the important instructions and key issues emphasized by President Xi as the major tasks in expediting the modernization drive, improve planning, focus on implementation, lead the overall development, and deliver excellent results.
The meeting stressed that Jiangsu will live up to President Xi’s expectations to strive to become an example, a role model and a pioneer, which shows the sincere wishes of the CPC Central Committee towards Jiangsu in the new journey. This will serve as the overall objective, guideline and requirement for Jiangsu in compiling the 14th Five-Year Plan. The province will keep up with the times and review its goals, ideas and decisions so as to be in line with the expectations. Jiangsu will further advance reform, stimulate innovation at a higher level, and achieve more progress in high-quality development.
In implementing the important instructions, Jiangsu will bear in mind both long-term development needs and current steps. Focusing on key issues and tasks that President Xi has emphasized, Jiangsu will carry out in-depth investigations and studies, formulate opinions and specific plans for implementation, draw up lists of tasks and clarify responsibilities, conduct timely inspections and follow-ups, and ensure that all instructions are implemented fully and have actual effects.
