East China’s Jiangsu Province has 32 enterprises recognized in the Hurun China 500 Most Valuable Private Companies 2020, a list of the top 500 Chinese private enterprises ranked according to their market value, released by the Hurun Research Institute on November 25.
The 32 enterprises that are headquartered in Jiangsu include 12 in Suzhou, five in both Nanjing and Wuxi, and three in both Changzhou and Nantong.
The threshold to make the Top 500 was $3.4 billion. The total market value of Jiangsu’s 32 enterprises reached 2.2 trillion yuan, including ten companies exceeding the threshold of 50 billion yuan and five over 100 billion yuan. Hengrui Medicine ranked 14th in the complete list and first among Jiangsu-based winners.
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare overtook advanced manufacturing and real estate to become the No. 1 industry for the Hurun China 500.
Nine newcomers from Jiangsu on the list are Yadea, Ecovacs, Tongfu Microelectronics, Tongcheng Elong, Yoke Technology, Trina Solar, Simcere Pharmaceutical, BrightGene Bio-Medical, and Suzhou Zelgen. Among them, one of three companies are specialized in life sciences.
