The China Yellow Sea Wetland Museum opened in Yancheng City of Jiangsu Province on January 10.
This marked a new milestone in improving public awareness of ecological protection after the Migratory Bird Sanctuaries along the coast of the Yellow Sea-Bohai Gulf (Phase I) were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a natural site on July 5, 2019.
The museum, located in Yancheng’s Tinghu District, is free for the public to visit. The main hall has a floor area of 18,573 square meters and an exhibition area of 6,000 square meters.
Renovated from the city’s old railway station, the museum’s design highlights elements of wetland by keeping its original arch structure and integrating urban life with cultural heritage.
